GP524 Manly Pursuits (leather)
Recommended Fabrics
Soft, supple but firm genuine leathers such as pigskin or cowhide.
Note: After purchasing the leather and prior to cutting out the pattern pieces, the leather should be stretched until it won't stretch any more. It's best to do this using the edge of a table or over your knee. This will expose any flaws and allow you to position your pattern pieces on the leather to avoid them. Your gloves will also fit better. |
Notions
Glove thread (craft or topstitching thread)
Glove leather needle (Size 6)
Glove tape (opt.) - to measure width of hand to obtain size
Beeswax
Soft, strong glue, e.g. rubber cement
Miniature clothes pins
Yardage Requirements
Normally leather is sold by the square foot. Take your pattern with you to select the leather. Place the tranks in the center and the thumbs and fourchettes on the outer edges. Examine the leather in those areas for blemishes. |
