All About Us

Dee Atkinson started the Pattern Studio in 1996 as a direct result of her consuming passion with hats and gloves and a love of pattern drafting. She loves to design and create the patterns and particularly loves to teach others how to make her patterns.

Pattern Studio is primarily a mail-order company specializing in patterns for distinctive hats, gloves and handbags. Patterns are continually being included in the line. These are a result of Dee's creativity and also ideas and suggestions from her many customers.

We are proud to announce the creation to two new pattern lines:

Evening Elegance is a collection of six cocktail hats and six evening purse patterns. Each pattern packet includes either two cocktail hat patterns or two evening purse patterns. They are just what you need for an elegant evening out on the town.

Very Vintage is a collection of vintage hat styles ranging from the 1800's to 1960. Patterns will be added to this collection on an ongoing basis. Our goal is to create two patterns for each period or decade.

In addition to the patterns we also carry glove supplies, handbag hardware, and kits.

The Pattern Studio has two major objectives:

1. To provide you with the finest quality merchandise available.

2. To offer timely service no matter what you order. The only instance an order will be delayed is if we are away.

Dee conducts millinery and glovemaking workshops, seminars and fashion shows throughout the USA and Canada. She has taught classes at various sewing expos, LaCrasia Gloves (NYC), Vogue Fabrics (Evanston, IL), Haberman Fabrics (Detroit, MI) and classes in Cincinnati, OH and Seattle, WA.

Dee Atkinson is an active member of the Cincinnati chapter of the American Sewing Guild (ASG). She also taught classes at several ASG annual conferences.
